Blackcap Singing in Killedmond

Blackcap singing in Killedmond

Lovely sunny morning in Killedmond with the Blackcap singing his little heart out. The males have been here for some time but the females have only arrived in the last ten days. I am sure she is sitting cosily on her eggs. Being the good provider that he is, the male has sussed out a suitable breeding place. Blackcaps are easily heard but not easily seen. Their song is one of the most joyous of Spring; a melodious rattle of notes high up in leaf canopy.
